It seems like ML is actually the one that went through Stockholm Syndrome. Though unintentionally, he did develop a dependency and affection toward the person that was “responsible” for his captivity. While of course despising him. The poor MC was just a kid trying to help another kid he felt like he betrayed. So we joke about the MC being fine where he is at and he is honestly completely safe. Meanwhile it was the ML who is showing the affects of unintentional Stockholm syndrome to his “captor.” This codependency he hasn’t healed from since he was a kid.
This has been fairly lighthearted at first despite the serious situations, but now we are actually getting into the nitty gritty of the aftermath. I’m interested how this author will further this story.
Not doubting that, just talking about his mental state and him clinging onto the mc the way he does. Both coexist and I find that so interesting in a character

He already liked mc before he got kidnapped
