Did I say I only read Korean comics with rape in them? No, I did not. I said it became popular to put rape in the manhwa and pretend it wasn’t rape. So if the manhwa has consensual sex it doesn’t fall under my comment, is it that hard to understand? I am also not being annoyed with stories that simply include rape because that is sadly happening in real life, but only when it is showed as something bad and with consequences. This manhwa has rape in it and brushes if off as if it were consensual which desintisizes readers to real like cases like this.
and yes ofc you didn’t say this but u make it sound like it’s smth u read pretty often. i get your point that rape is a popular theme in manhwas but i also have to tell ya that you can simply not read them and avoid manhwas like these which as u just previously told me you do. so why are ya bitchin around and lastly your point with „it desensitises ppl to real rape“ is such bogus i don’t even know where to begin. i would recommend you to visit a shrink if you can’t separate fictional events from reality. ppl like you is why there are disclaimers in comics and books abt said content being fictional. get a grip
How was I supposed to know when I started to read that in 30 or so chapters there will be rape? Their relationship was weird and intriguing but seemed to be building up pretty steadily, how does it add up to rape? Tbh your comment is giving me „lacking comprehension” so you can go be rude somewhere else. And no, the warnings are not because of me, it’s because such content can be triggering to people who were victims. The way you speak about it is proof to me that people do become desensitised. Mind you, this manhwa does not have the warnings and it passes off RAPE as CONSENSULA SEX. Please don’t respond, you clearly do not understand my comments so further conversation is pointless
This is such a retarded comment lmao. If you're this irritated over criticism that isn't targeted towards you, then maybe the problem is you and not the 'moral police', which isn't even an insult. You're just making a fool out of yourself because you wanna choose to be close minded. And what the hell are you even talking abt at the end? 'go help real life victims if u care so much' pls stfu and reevaluate your life choices, you're genuinely so dense
No I don't bcs it is fiction dudette. You read until 36 chapters and thought it was some sweet fluffy story? The main story is more toxic. So don't read this kinda story with your unnecessary woke ass. Take it somewhere else. wannabe morally righteous activist who doesn't give a flying fuck about real victims and survivors
You're absolutely right. I really like this manhwa but it's not like I'll disregard the rape because it occurred and deserves it's own criticism. I'm not sure why people believe that they have to entirely opt for one side. It's such a black and white mindset and it's so limiting. There is no need to abide to such. People are allowed to like something and see the flaws in it. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and everybody is allowed to express such opinion. Simply because it offends one (admittedly dense) person, it doesn't mean that we shouldn't be allowed to criticize a valid fault in a work we enjoy. Anyways, thanks for bringing this up. A lot of people aren't talking about this, and there are a lot of subtle toxic traits thta have been absolutely romanticized that even I missed... Don't let them silence you
Okay you're genuinely so dense. Fiction isn't just fiction, it's a pretty objective fact that fiction is a reflection of reality, and influences reality, like you for example who is willing to disregard romanticized rape in media for the sake of your enjoyment and escapism. Second of all, they never said they were expecting fluff. It's pretty evident given that the story belongs to the universe of Passion, a toxic manhwa. Toxicity doesn't mean that readers have to accept romanticized rape. We are absolutely allowed to call it out for what it is, especially if it's glorified and sanitized. I'm not sure how this criticism is hurting anyone, but if it's hurting you, then again, you've got some issues you need to fix. Also, I'm not exactly sure why you think calling someone woke, activist and all of the above is insulting. It really isn't. Just shows how idiotic you are to believe that someone with morality and empathy are below you because you choose to numb yourself to consumption of rape for some reason. Lastly, stop bringing up activism for real life survivors because we know damn well you have no right to bring that up, and you have no idea how OP feels towards that topic. You're fucking retarded, fuck off the internet if you get offended over criticism that isn't towards U LMAOOO
Thank you roro, I really appreciate you being vocal about this as well. English is not my first language so it is hard to put what I actually feel and think out in the comments and what you said to that other person really resonates with me and how I feel, I would not be able to put it into words like you did.
I am not saying no one is allowed to like the story, that is not my point at all. What upset me was the author CHOSE to make the VICTIM think (cause he didn’t say it out loud) that „he wasn’t forced” which we saw not being true, but happens to so many victims (a lot of people after SA try to tell themselves and others they were not raped, but that’s a trauma response) . I chose to stop reading because I know it will never be addressed. With Passion I was able to brace myself for it, but here I for some reason I saw their relationship developing and Xinlu softening up that I thought it was going to be a complete 180° from the main story. At the moment I am not able to continue with this manhwa because this scene made me like it’s pushing the fight of „consent is only an enthusiastic yes” which the MC was not able to give at the moment.

I don’t understand why it became so popular to have rape in the Korean comics so normalised and even romanticised. „It’s not like I was forced into it”, brother you were unconscious and so drunk you couldn’t consent. Just because it „felt good” doesn’t mean you were not forced and manipulated into it. Who in their right mind fucks someone who is asleep and acknowledge that the person IS ASLEEP, him coming does not mean it wasn’t rape, its was a biological reaction to the stimulation!! It literally excusing rape because the person who did it is attractive. It’s so sickening, especially with everything that is happening now with the Cornell 7.
