he feels like a very real person instead of the cardboard cutout tops in most BL. he's genuine in his care and is a decent human being with flaws. i'm really glad the author didn't take go the same route of making him a toxic abusive jerk just bc of his flaws. for a moment there i was really scared that was where we're headed
