I think people are being too harsh on her high school friends, they were nice people but a combination of factors made the relationship worse and worse.
She more or less was ditching them to study which is understandable but would get young girls like them feelings hurt. Like realising you don't matter much to a friend you thought more off.
They also saw how absorbed she was in her own feelings and situation that she failed to be considerate towards them.
At the end they had a falling out since they're all a bunch of teens that are stressed as hell for the university exams. Which is very common btw and it's not like they actually bullied her, they were just being pity and little mean.

The problem lies in the fact that she was never raised properly to deal with her emotions and have zero useful coping skills. Making a solvable situation a dead end. And when most people could cope with seeing their ex friends in university, she couldn't.

The problem lies 100% on both her parents. Her mom is already bad enough but her dad being absolutely absent in no less bad. Especially since he'd know what kind of woman he married and it's not like she is particularly secretive about her "parenting style" so he's definitely in the know he just can't be bothered or possibly agree.

True, but i think of them as more pity stuff people do when they are immature and their feelings are hurt. I am not saying it's an okay behaviour I'm just saying it's a normal occurrence with this age group especially when the exams are so close up.

It's something I saw many times before, that's why we say senior year in high school is a curse to friend groups lol though usually the pity behaviour and snide comments would go two ways
