Hopefully I make sense

I am starting to think that Damian's dad isn't this evil maniac that everyone seems to think. I don't think he's entirely a good guy (in their world that isn't possible for those who lived through the war). I think he's actively distancing himself from his family though.

And perhaps there's some of that human experimentation going on, but I think the biggest factor here is the overall theme of the story - wanting to avoid war. Most of the adult characters lived through the horrors of war and they want to prevent the war from starting again. Whether on one side or another, they want to suppress the other side to stop another war. Now there are some who do want to start the war, but I think Damian's dad wants to prevent another war. But Damian's dad is a key player on the world stage, so he is being watched by everyone and he's always at danger of assassination. This means his family is always in danger as well. But he can't just oppose war, his role and status isn't easy to navigate.

In the present he's cold, distant, and lacks the usual warmth of a husband and father. In the past he was the total opposite, and I think he's doing his best to protect them in his own way. And maybe that's why he's also so harsh with them, because he wants them to be able to survive on their own. But at the end of the day, he's hurting his entire family. His wife is on the verge of breaking down, his oldest son has lost a connection to his own emotions, and his youngest son is suffering from isolation.

    I think the dad now has evidence of being experimented on and this chapter kinda pushed that more. Like his old look didn’t have the head scars

    To be honest, I think you might be right about neither side being bad. I'm wondering if there's like this secret third organisation working behind the scenes, and it's somehow linked to all these experiment facilities like the ones with Anya and Bond.

    Perhaps the military of Ostana (Ostania?) could be the ones behind it and Desmond (Dami & Demi's father) like you said knows something and as a result is trying to keep his family out of the drama of the politics behind it. We know they're at least involved from Code:White, and then there's those elderly neighbours that are somehow involved with Anya (aka the 007 experiment); but honestly I'm so invested in the politics behind operation strix and the mastermind of it all.

    Like don't get me wrong, I love the happy go lucky family drama we love to see, but I'm super intrigued in the actual lore that led to this and the makings of the wars and why these experimentations began. I think once we get to Anya's backstory it's going to be a huge reveal of some kind. Like who Anya's parents were and how she ended up in the facility in the first place, was she born there? Or was she taken with her mother? Who is her father? These sorts of questions.

    But for some reason, I wonder if Yor and Yuri's parents might have had some role in this too, because we've never actually seen who they are or really any information about them minus the fact they died due to the war when Yor/Yuri was young and that instance of the cooking segment. But I do find it a little suspicious we've never actually seen silhouettes of them either - Like in Loid's backstory where we got faceless characters. So it'll be interesting to see if they are involved in some way, be it secret spies or Garden members like Yor (Because we never actually learned how Yor became acquainted with Garden while being so young.)

    Not to say no to this theory completely, but there are so many other reasons why he could have scars; for example, failed assassination attempt, an accident, or a surgery (potentially related to the other options). Though I will say I can't imagine what he looks like in my head rn so I'm not really sure what scars you are referring to, and I wasn't sure what chapter I should check it from. ^^;
