Yeah, no, he is very much questionable. But you have to be a real silly giy to immediately make a jump "this guy has a crush on, let's string him along" to have sex. Sir, dare I say that's pretty gay. I would say he both conniving and dumb. They both are.

T'was fast, and out of nowhere. He was literally performing straight bro-ness, and then, suddenly decides he's actually attracted to a dude who's just complimenting him. Bit too quick.
The whole "break up with your (totally real) boyfriend" thing and him scheming to get ML to lose his virginity for MC's own sexual desires and to keep him from being an enemy later feels skeevy. I've heard people say he's coming up with excuses because he likes ML, and I doubt that--but even if it's true, it still feels annoying. Plus there were people at a party trying to get ML drunk and sleep with him, so I wouldn't be surprised if MC is deliberately written as questionable instead of confused.
