can’t remember the title, some details might be slightly wrong:
* It had a European-style fantasy setting. * The main character was a little girl, possibly with pink hair, but I’m very unsure about the colour. * There was also a young boy with white hair, possibly yellow eyes, who I remember as her brother. * Both children were taken in/adopted by one of the sons of a powerful family. Their adoptive father had black or dark bluish hair. * The larger family had lots of children who competed with each other. * The children had separate animal companions, rather than turning into animals themselves. * The girl had an egg that hatched into a phoenix, even though she had always wanted a legendary black dragon. * The boy had a white snake companion. * There was some kind of school or training setting with other children their age, possibly within the family.
