I don't think miscommunication is the main problem. Yes, it will move things smoothly and quickly but the problem was they are both dead set in their own ways. They were both inflexible to change which was shown through their recurring clashes between big grand gesture vs small act of consistency. Most of you missed it because of how short the reconciliation was but when they communicated their problems, they still argued and can't trust each other.
This is how i see the ending: Doing a romantic movie kiss was how they solved their problem (or rather the first step) They both crossed the lines of their world and leap in the realm of romance movie couples, and by doing that they now follow the same rules and have the same guidelines on how to treat each other like a lover. Kissing publicly while raining is a big gesture AND a quality time and also very inexpensive but costly for Helbert because he's an infamous cold and indifferent man.
