The issue with this is that even though there's more villagers, they aren't trained to WANT to shoot. Normal people have a very high tendency to not want to pull the trigger against a fellow human, even if they are dangerous. There will be a small moment of hesitation in comparison to the hound who will blast immediately, she doesn't have any human restraints about killing afterall.
They have also spent YEARS being scared of the hounds, having one confronting them with a gun will naturally freeze them. It would be pretty easy for her to pick them all off one by one, I think.
