It's really not that hard to read the tags and reviews. If the tags have non-con/ntr/pedophilia just don't read it.
CHOOSING to read it and then complaining that it has x y and z is like watching a romance movie and complaining about the kiss scenes. Life is not all sunshine and rainbows, you can't expect every piece of Fiction to be catered to your tastes.
I don't like non-con/ntr/pedophilia/huge size difference/baby trapping /etc so I don't read it. Simple
Maybe I shouldve added what prompted me to writing this but I was reading an ongoing manhwa and then the newest chapter was rape so then people were complaining because it came out of nowhere. Now when it comes to that other stuff, I added it because ive seen it in comments. Do I read it after finding out, No but I don't understand how that's a newgen thing. I also should have given context but oh well.
idk why they never consider that those things are distasteful, played out, and overdone even to people who've been reading for ages.
people being more vocal about not wanting those things and wanting other options is a good thing, so that it's known that people feel that way and that there's a market for that.
What it comes down to is that you can’t do anything nowadays without some stranger interrogating you about it. It’s a lot easier to sit there and judge other people’s reading lists than it is to look at your own and ask yourself whether you’re actually the depraved one.
Oldgen readers already understand the basic reality that this work is going to get uploaded whether we read it or not. We don’t feel the need to rephrase that same “you should feel bad for existing” sentiment fifty different ways every single day. After making it through a 9-5, most of us just want to grab the first updated, nonslop AI translation we can find and shut our brains off for an hour. If we end up reading something completely perverse? Damn, my bad. Won’t read that one again & move on.
Newgen readers(& yes im 100% generalizing based on my random doom scrolling observations) seem to need to feel heard. Instead of letting themselves brainrot for a bit, everything has to turn into a 10 page essay on the moral psychology of why the people reading these stories are horrible and need to be purged from a community of readers who didn’t even create the work in the first place.
Most of these authors don’t even know we’re reading their stuff because we’re literally pirating it. If the content was really that appalling to the people doing the berating, you’d hope those same people were out there making it their mission & messaging the actual authors on social media telling them that their work (being illegally distributed and read for free all over the world) is revolting. Sooner or later those hateful comments are going to reach the creators. Then they’ll just stop putting stuff out for the general public and keep it in a local niche market. We’ll be left with nothing to read & then well be left with nothing to complain about.

People love to call others newgens when you say you hate when manwhas have rape, incest and pedophilia. Like where do you guys get that conclusion?
