I think the demon had something to do with the hero that’s why Kael had to kill him in their past lives. Then Kael made a deal with a demon to bring the hero back to life. I am just as confused as you but this is how I understand it.
I don’t think it’s the same demon, as Sajun doesn’t seem to recognise or know the demon that appeared in this chap, and the demon doesn’t act familiar with him either, but other than that, that’s about the gist of what’s been revealed. Seems like season 2 will finally reveal what happened in their past lives.
Ok so I basically should be kind of confused because the details haven't been shown yet. I thought I was really missing something, idk the storytelling is confusing but I don't want to admit it because I like this artist
