I don't get it. The King wanted to get close to the Duke so he did, and even rejected Elica (the Queen) before when she confessed because she was engaged to Vilmar, but only to marry her in the end because Vilmar said so....
Then did he marry Elica also because he wanted to get close to Vilmar but eventually fell in love with Elica? Or he has he always been in love with the Queen and Vilmar's feelings were the only one-sided??....
i think vilmar's feelings were always one sided, since the king does genuinely seem inlove with the queen, but didn't want to sacrifice their (the duke and king's) friendship
or maybe its even more doomed and the king liked him back but it does seem one sided for now

This! It was always one sided, even elica said it herself that the king liked her so why did he not want to be with her, then the king proceeded to say it was bc she was engaged to his friend (vilmar)
