This is such a unique concept to me, I'm loving it.
And I'm also pretty lost on this world's setting, can someone explain me in simple cause/effect manner what roots are and how does Jio play in all this? In my understanding, he was once human in a muuuch farther time than the one he's currently in. There's no real concept of time in that painting, so he might be hundreds of years old and not know about it. That would explain why he's so unnaturally chill about everything weird about him. I'm guessing the painting became a dungeon somehow, and he's the painter of this dungeon, thus making Jio its creator. I'm not sure why that would make him able to paint entrances to other dimensions, power that appears unaffected by both time and space, how is he perceivable as a "God", nor why is he perceived as such a terrifying being.
In short, if it's not gonna ruin the story, please spoil me what he is cuz I'm hella interested. Or I might read the novel, if it's preferable.
