Also they made the ml come off as way too aggressive at times, which is a really bad look in comparison to the new character who is much "sweeter"(?)(idk a better way to explain it). But it was just a really bad set up for the ml overall, they essentially tarnished a lot of the hard work they put into establishing him in the first half of the season all for this random ass dude???? No like seriously can you tell Im just really confused and baffled by this new character and his ultimate purpose. Is his purpose to just make the audience dislike the ml? What is author thinking

I really enjoyed the first half of this season, but there was a point where the author completely abandoned the ml and focused too much on developing the mentor relationship between mc and the other dude. I think they could have at least still included ml in some chapters somehow, or even have mc thinking about/missing him or something just to remind the audience who is the actual couple is but for some reason they COMPLETELY abandoned ml for a few chapters only to reintroduce him in the last 2 chapters which felt so abrupt to me. Its one thing to focus on multiple aspects of your story but its another to completely sideline the main reason why people are reading the story in order to progress a random relationship between the mc and someone else. If the ultimate point of it all was merely as a jealousy tool, I believe it was executed too poorly. There was a time I literally forgot about the ml fgs!
Sigh, it had such a strong start and I felt really excited about their relationship but this weird focus on this random mentor relationship was so off putting??? Not enough for me to completely give up on this tho, and Im still looking forward to seeing how it will continue in the next season
