I see a comment explaining it, so thanks for that! In any case, I'm questioning why the main story wasn't an omegaverse. It actually fits really well with the themesthough I do question why the author chose such a sad ending for the AU, especially since having kids was something they discussed earlier. It does feel rushed at the end, and I'm curious if the author intended that to be romantic? No, I don't think a miscarriage and the resulting closeness is romantic.
