Art aside, At least Killing stalking you can say that Yoon Bum was unabashedly romantically attracted to Sangwoo. Booty wurk however, you have to squint really really hard and do mental gymnastics to think yeah maybe Tae-eon has sommmeeree feelings for Shinwoo but even then it’s like…maybe not??? Shinwoo has no autonomy in this. He is a victim but also refuses to be one. Idkshwjdjjddj.
Exactly. I'm currently working on my Ph.D. in Gothic literature, and I'm reading a lot of really horrible literature on the daily. This novel is easily the worst of them. It literally changed how my body reacts to stress. I cried so hard from TERROR and DESPAIR. I'm also kind of obsessed with it (I've Stockholm syndrome'd myself), and I want to read the manhwa too. The artist is so good, and she's also obsessed with BW.... alas!

As a novel reader I’ll just tell y’all that this is in NO way a romantic story. The art style is odd, harrowing, weird because the story is too. It’s psychologically fucked up and absurd. Do not expect a redemptive moment (for the seme). Gubu (author) doesn’t write happy, romantic stories. Their stories have an incorrigibly cruel top and tortured but tenacious bottom. There is at no point in this story where the sex is appealing or erotic. It actually got to a point where I, a connoisseur of the most-fucked-themes-ever-known, had to take a break from reading the novel. I was so stressed I wanted the uke to kill himself to save us (the readers) all. The art style conveys that in how raw and unappealing it is. You’re not really supposed to find it pleasing to look at. This is not something like Jinx where you can say “the story is meh but the sex scenes are hot”. The sex scenes here aren’t supposed to be hot. Spoiler but there is no point in the entire novel I can think of where the main characters have consensual mutually pleasurable sex. Also the artist of this manhwa was a big fan of gubu’s works beforehand.
Therefore, if you cannot handle your average rape-victim-turns-lover BL then this is DEFINITELY not the story for you. It takes the standard tropes of obsession, possessiveness, lust and turns them into the most horrific thing you can think of.
Edit: ALSO DO NOT READ THE NOVEL. You will feel an astronomical level of despair you will want to to throw up and die. (Not an exaggeration)
