So, everything is caused by an intersection of wishes. The book & the old lady who sells lotteries are able to grant wishes, but the rules state that only 1 person should make a wish at a time, and for that wish to not involve others, or unforseen consequences will pop up. the current situation is a result of 3 wishes: The truck driver, bae jaewon, and han dojun. the truck driver wishes for the person who win the lottery to lose his winnings, jaewon wished to not be alone, and dojun wished to go back to that moment in the past where he pulled the plug on that guys life support. since jaewon and dojun made their wish on the book, their wishes got intertwined, both are sent to the past together, which also inadvertenly grants truck driver's wishes, since jaewon will not make it back to his timeline in time to cash out his lottery. Each person kinda paid the price for their wish, truck driver will lose his life for his blackheartedness, jaewon loses the wealth he always wanted in exchange for the companionship he yearned for, and dojun spends a monotonous 10 years without jaewon and develops an obsession.
