Not bad but not great

The story is interesting and i understand how trauma made Anezaki the way he is. His reaction to the rape and the scum ex is understandable if you consider it a way to protect himself. He says it's no big deal or it didn't count because if he didn't he would have to come to terms with the damage it has done to him, with the fact that his ex lied, used him, cheated and then threw him out and that's terrifying.
What bothers me about the story is that we are shown plenty of reasons why Mikado is lovable and why Anezaki can come to love him, but it doesn't do the same about Anezaki. Why would Mikado come to love Anezaki when we aren't shown a single redeemable quality about him? He never apologises for using Mikado, there is no scene where he is shown to actually care about his subordinates or to be a kind person deep down or whatever else. Feels like his only qualities are "asshole because he is traumatised" and "pretty and good at sex". Could have been better. I like the way his trauma is not magically resolved by love though. That last extra chapter was a nice touch and pretty realistic.
