Lot of angry people here

This story was good tbh. Even tho the mc , the empress wasn't the hero. She was def not the villain as well. Rashta on other hand was the villain if it comes to stealing one's husband but overall it wasn't her fault as well. She was little girl mistreated all her life , being a slave only to be given a golden opportunity like being the mistress of the emperor. It makes sense that she'll cling to it with her life.

The empress

I'd like to point out the fact that even if cheating is not justified id say part of the empress's married life , she had lowkey ruined herself. She wasn't communicating her feelings towards emperor which led him to think she didn't love him at all. She was so absorbed in her role as the empress that she didn't really fulfill her duty as a wife, a life partner.
The emperor imo probably fell in love with rashta cuz of how free spirited she was, just like how Navier used to be. Wearing her heart at sleeve. He was trying to find the young Navier in Rashta possibly and ofc the fact that he suspected Navier was infertile due to his own carelessness.
