I don’t remember much cause I read the novel like a month or three ago buuttt…
Basically, something happens between them (I forgot what) where they stop talking and stuff again, MC ends up going to the counseling service that was mentioned like… last episode cause he was not doing well mentally AT ALL. ML finds out what actually happened and why mc left him. We run into the couple from “define the relationship” (or at least the mc from it) in a warehouse/air craft hanger (I think) and that’s where the killer was caught or encountered. ML catches him or smth, MC gets injured. ML feels bad, stuff happens (don’t remember) and then they get together officially.
ML did despise MC for awhile but started to catch feelings perchance
This is all with a bucket of salt cause I don’t remember the novel very well; I read it during a rollercoaster called life. But yeah, if anyone else read it; correct what I’m wrong with cause it’s hazy.
It’s very cute and heart wrenching tho.

It been a while since I've read it so I hope I'm not mixing things up, but it has a good ending. Nathan treats Alex well and at some point Alex asks him again if he can explain what happened, and Nathan again refuses. Nathan gets super involved in the case and at some point he links the suspect to the soccer player who blackmailed him in school. And Nathan finally goes to one of their school reunion things where Alex isn't, and meets up with old classmates. One of the girls who knew about the blackmail and that picture that looked like Matthew gets caught talking about it (or it comes out at the table when everyone's eating?), and Matthew pushes for answers. He finds out that Alex was forced to date that omega brother of the soccer player, about the picture Alex was blackmailed with and that essentially Alex gave up his career in soccer to protect him.
He feels terrible and wants to find Alex right away(it was kinda irritating because he could have just heard Alex out, but the moment someones talkingabout it, he presses them for answers). During that time, Alex is trying to track down one of the people placed in witness protection (AMY is her name I think) who likes Nathan. She had told Alex that she liked Nathan and planned to confess. First she asked him to pass her message to Nathan while she was in the safe house, but he says he can't. Her parent/relative suddenly dies so she escapes, and I think her home was near Nathan's or she tries to see him(point is she's near his place). But the killer is waiting. Alex ends up fighting the killer and gets wounded so badly he's on death's door. He's heavily depressed, just btw so when he's dying he feels some relief that he doesnt have to struggle anymore. Amy manages to escape because Alex forces her to get to safety while he's holding off the killer(who turnsout to just be working for the soccer player, who's experimenting on people to find a cure for his brothers ilness, the brother Alex was forced to date. Their parents own a Pharmaceutical company) , and she gets to Nathan's house. Nathan had just got in and it's raining heavily. When Amy gets to him she tells him that Alex is fighting the killer and Nathan takes off running. He finds that Alex managed to subdue the killer and handcuffed himself to himself, but he's like basically dead, he bled out a lot to and his stab wounds are really gruesome since the killer had repeatedly twisted the knife .Alex is frantic, and does whatever he can to stop the bleeding and revive him. The ambulance shows up and the rest of the cops. They get Alex to the hospital and he undergoes life-saving surgery. He survives and finally he and Nathan talk about what happened. Nathan tells him to come live with him so he can take care of him while he recovers. During that time it's very romantic, cute and domestic. Then when Alex is healed up, he starts feeling anxious again and thinks its time to leave so he starts packing up. He calls Matthew to come help. Nathan comes home and sees it, and he's not happy all.
Also, we get to see Carlyle from Define the Relationship here. Nathan calls in a favour and gets him involved to catch the soccer player who's trying to flee the country. Carlyle's brother married Nathan's brother, anyway Carlyle comes in all hot and handsome, they catch the guy and take him to jail. Nathan and Alex live together in the end, they're happy. Nathan finds out that the reason Alex lives in poverty is because his mother who'd left them took him in for a year after he lost his scholarship and then made him pay her back for living with her, and out of guilt and filial piety he keeps paying her.Nathan convinces him to stop and he does so now he has no financial burden either. With everything resolved, they live happily every after getting up to some kinky stuff in Nathan's house!
