Where did you read about the blacksmith?
Novelupdates.com. It's a novel called Seiun wo Kakeru. At first I thought it was one of these transfer to another world thingy, but turns out the protagonist was the only surviving victim of a planecrash and got saved by the inhabitants of a isolated and undiscovered island. He recovers from amnesia and remembers all of that somewhere at the beginning before marrying a local window, becoming a cheat.

Ok...This manga? It's revolutionary. Now, I read manga, even novels about modern man going to the past. I read about even about an amnesic blacksmith going to a seemingly medieval land ,but this manga was different. Although , cooking mangas aren't my piece of cake. This one ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ was simply thrilling to read it and I don't think I would read something alike before.
