I think it's because japanese are so traditional, and back then a girl is more feminine if she's weak, a strong woman it's just too boyyish she needs to leave the aper of the strong one to men.

Saver, Love in the Mask, 9 Banme no Musashi, Umi no Kishidan, they’re all gender genders but still really good although Love in the Mask is a tragedy, it’s not as good as the others but still worth reading
