Does anyone here come from a country where lgbtq+ is illegal or where the laws about them are ambiguous?

I am from India and homosexual (male) sex is banned

What is irritating is that homosexuality was decriminalized in 2009 but then they criminalized it again 2013.. like what's their problem?

That's the backlash from all the things that the overly aggressive left wings did. Though I'm glad that there are organizations out there willing to help eliminate the hatred, part of the organizations are only perpetuating the hate by taking negative and overly aggressive actions to forcefully silence what they think is going against them.

It's one thing to peacefully convey your ideas but it is another thing to aggressively impose it onto others. Over the years, part of the LGBT has been overly aggressive and critical in their attacks on the public which cause the public to lash out.

The public doesn't understand that LGBT doesn't represent the gay community as a whole. They only see it as the gay community abusing its power and misplace their anger on the entire gay community.

Oh, really? (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ What about human rights? If you are gay what will happen? I'm from Romania and well... the LGBT community is not banned but people can't really accept it (usually elders or men, idk why). Here they tried to make a law about marriage and shits like that. The mentality sukkk, i can't wait to go away.

    Bangladeshi here.
People here don't even bother to think about it ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ so don't know whether it's banned or not. But we do have some gay community but they work like secret organizations so most people don't know about it!

it is here, there's almost non who accepts lgbt people, the chance you will find someone who do is like 0.001%. There's alot of old shitty selfish thinking here. There's also sexism, and interacting with the other gender is not allowed outside the field of work/business. friendship between two genders is seen as you're a whore for hanging out with a guy. all whats important here is your studies and you will work to earn money (sorry i cant say wich country)

    Damm really ?
It sounds like the 19th century ...
Maybe u r living in the country side ?
Usually the country side is a lot more strict ...

That's the thing. If everyone is able to understands human rights, if everyone is able to casts aside their own bias and look at things with an open mind, there wouldn't be any discrimination. There wouldn't be any racism, sexist, and prejudice. All the hatred in the world will be reduce to a minimum and the world would be more peaceful. But people aren't capable of doing that. Even if they're capable, some will choose not to. That's a fact that we all have to accept.

Lashing out in anger isn't going to improve the situation. It's only going to make you more miserable and cause the people who despise you to hate you even more. But that doesn't mean you should just role over and take the abuse either. You have to be proactive and take measures that will improve the situation rather than lashing out and making the situation worst than it already is.

Almost all heavenly religions have it prohibited so there is that
U can't just erase all ppl with those religions ...freedom of speech itself is to respect others beliefs as long as there is no harm ...
If u have a homophobic friend ...as long as he is peaceful ...u can possibly try to change his mind ...it is exactly doing what they r doing .....

Some ppl like to make a fuss and a drama over nothing tbh ...especially minorities ..which I do get considering how tough their type have lived ..but overdoing it by taking it over ppl who aren't harmful ...is really basically doing the thing we claim we protest against

Why do I say that ?
Most our parents are religious and like Christianity or whatever ...and probably homophone ...

Imnnot an atheist either although I don't have any protest , like I read yaoi and shounen ai a lot ....
Let's just respect each other without trying to change each others opinion? Yeah that is what I wanted to say

What are people supposed to do when even the government doesn't support them... Luckily a the media, lot of private organizations and NGOs are bringing in awareness. Even the judiciary is pressurizing the parliament. But there are so many things messed up in India that important issues like these get swept away in the sea of all the other problems that need to be fixed... We still have a long long way to go... Smh

    ShaaringanNoRiya February 25, 2018 6:08 am

Like most of y'all are saying even if the law is supporting lgbtq+ rights, if families and the people around that person are hostile then it is pointless. The person's life is still ruined...

    Anonymous February 25, 2018 6:26 am

What do you do to actually help LGBT people? "We still have a long long way to go"? You're doing nothing to help

Well you are right. My statement was hypocritical. I don't know anyone belonging to the light community personally... But what I meant by "long way to go" is that the Parliament still thinks that this is a trivial issue- something that can be postponed or isn't even worthy of discussion. Because there are so many things that they'd first have to take care of (we can clearly see how much they are actually doing). The law criminalizing homosexual sex was removed in 2009 on efforts by the community and the judiciary but the Parliament's like nah, amendments are our business so they brought it back in 2013. Now the struggle's started again. May be, I'd join an activist group soon (once I'm independent).
