Yaoi may not show real gay couples but it does open you eyes to the fact love is love and that there are many different kind of lables such as pan-sexuality, demisexuality, asexulaity (I used to be homophobic until I read yaoi)
In Honto Yajuu, I honestly believe the seme is pansexual. I never thought of it as striaght x gay troop. Same with the seme in doushitemo furetakunai and in Mujihi Na Karada
In Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai (very realistic yaoi, the mangaka is honestly perfect at writing yaoi with realism) shows seme whose demisexual.

All the straight fudanshi, I know said they are more open-minded now (they wouldn't mind getting penetrated (๑•ㅂ•)و✧ not all of them obviously ) where the non-bl readers are homophobic,sexist as fuck (like the fact that men have to be this alpha masculine male with a specific body type and they have to like sports, games and shit)

So yaoi is amazing, its not bad and its kinda helping everyone open their mind to the basic stuff on gay couples (USE LUBE, SOME MEN ARE FEMININE because they look andryonous like kpop stars and have that skinny Asian body type even if they have a masculine demeanor , SOME MEN ARE MASCULIN. sO WHAT? They are just men).
