"Yuuri" is mainly a Russian name. While Yuri is for Japan.
Yuri means- "Lavish and plentiful ideas"or Lily.
While Yuuri- in Russia means Superiority.
Japanese characters get romanized depends on which system you’re using, sometimes even which subtype of a system you’re using, and aesthetics can also play a role when romanizing names.
Yuri, Yuuri, and Yūri can be equally accurate ways to romanize his name.
But they chose the "Yuri" one cause its more simple.
Just make a tag excluding yaoi so you won't be bothered.
Did you deadass get mad over a name of an anime botching up your search? This is the definition of first world problems right here XDD
"XDD"
but YoI it's not yaoi ?? It's a sport anime with two main characters gay but that does not mean it's yaoi. A yaoi genre it's when a manga/anime it's about a gay relationship WITH explicit sexual content. It's not shounen ai either because the "ai" literally means it's all about the love between two characters. Yūri on ice it's anime about ice skating, where it shows the three main character's hardships and friendships with other skaters, just like any other sport anime. The fact that two of them are gay does not mean the anime has to be tagged as "yaoi".
I fucking hate yuri on ice by the title alone. If i tag just yuri in a search bar always shows results of that anime so i've to -ice along with the search. The producers of that anime could come up with a better title like Yaoi or Yuuri on ice so to not annoy people. Fuck.
