disappointed :(

I feel like this story is just a shoujo, except the uke is male. He doesn't even act like a man?? I really don't like it when a yaoi manga just makes the uke act like a total girl, except they attract fujoshi by making them both male. I feel like at that point it is just a fetish? I mean I'm fine if they act a little feminine at times, but when they act like such a maiden it becomes totally unrealistic and urghh it just makes me mad. ALSO the seme in this story is about as dynamic as a piece of card board. Sorry to say im super disappointed, and I actually really liked the premise of the plot. (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

Sorry for pointing this out, but shoujo ai is girl x girl. I’m not sure if that’s what you meant though.

soRRY for the intrusion, but.... what is "act like a man"? i mean, i get that you want some bara-like character, but even really build men arent spartans sometimes. aND most part of women population right know dont act like they did three centuries ago. i totally get your point and i respect your opinion, but you are trying to break a stereotype creating another one :( i didnt want to sound rude, im sorry if i did, but that kind of thing bothers me a little bit.
btw i agree with the "the seme in this story is about as dynamic as a piece of card board" lmao he is cute tho
anyways, if you want some rec about strong-like bottoms, i can be your woman.

I think your reply was kind and well said. I’m not the OP so this might be a bit out of line, but maybe what they were trying to say was that author’s works seem heteronormative if the uke becomes basically like a “”woman”” like how the MCs are portrayed in shoujo manga (pre-feminism, stereotyped gentle women), but is labeled yaoi because the MC happens to be male now, and caters more to female readers (as they normally are), rather than prioritising homosexual, male readers. But your point is understandable.

Okay you know what, I meant "act like a real human being". In this story, the uke acts so..feminine?? Unrealistically?? Idk what the word is, but his personality is so 1 deminsional there is no pull back to make the story interesting, and it's way too convienent to the story. It just makes the manga predictable and dull. That's what I didn't like about it. I do like the sweet, cute, and innocent uke types, I think they're like the purest, cutest things, but like there's a line? And you also have to have the skills to pull this character trope off, with the author sensei clearly did not have. I'm not saying that the uke (or seme, or a character in general) has to be all Sparta like, but I just want him to...urghh, it's so frustrating when you don't know what the word is :((, NOt be so "feminine"? Also take that word with a grain of salt, I doesn't exactly describe what I'm trying to say. Aaah, I'm sorry I just ranted my head off, it's currently five am here and I don't remember what I just typed. T.T getting into debates on the internet with strangers over a bl manga is pretty sad to do on a Tuesday morning before work lol. Anyway, I also don't mean to sound rude, and I appreciate your response ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
Gonna have to decline your offer on bl recs tho, already have to much manga I have to read.

i agree, that was indeed heteronormative! i'm happy to discuss things like that time to time with polite and respectful humans beings, i was kinda expecting vikings attacking me but- haha i was positively surprised xD
i totally understand that, now i get what the op was saying, they just didn't use the appropriated words! thanks for the reply~

I get the whole argument you convey, but personally I don't really think there's anything wrong with saying "act like a man". Basically what you would mean is that if you replace the character with a girl there would be literally no difference except the sex and you might as well just read a shoujo instead if this is what you want. It is also pushing heteronormative stereotypes on homosexual couples to make it more "normal". At least that's how I feel everytime I encounter this haha. I mean if gender and the way guys acted wasn't something we cared about at all, why would people have a preference for BL in the first place?
