well, that was the mangaka's (rip) intention lol, i still think it was a really cheap 'plot twist' to this day, showing a basic semexuke just to then be 'lol you got trolled' at the end (but if you consider how old it is, yaoi was just a lot different back then haha, i assume ppl actually found it funnier then? top-bottom jokes were THE thing at that time), what annoyed me the most though was that he became an uke after crying and showing his vulnerable side to haruki...like really, as soon as a guy cries and is vulnerable, no matter how he was before, anyone suddenly wants to see him getting fucked?
i am surprised to see that ppl now act like this is a good example for non-stereotypical roles when the mangaka just used the roles to make fun of the reader and as soon as atsushi is the uke after being 'weak', he completely becomes the most cliché uke yaoi has to offer and haruki also suddenly makes a 180° change and behaves super seme-like lol (+ mangas like this would make good seke couples, you're anticipated the actual seme getting fucked anyway haha)
but long story short: yes, we were all surprised because it was completely out of tune with the rest on purpose
I didn't expect Atsushi to be the uke. I mean Haruki was so uke material, he could have still be the uke despite their last make up scene. I really thought Atsushi was the domineering type, so I was really shocked on their sex scene where he was so helpless over Haruki's digits.
