He goes missing before he starts highschool I think, he appeared at the beggining of the story as a 3rd year wanting to go to the same college as Zhan Xixi, but the author goes on this flashback thats going until now showing them in middle school ,the reason of Jian desapearence is going to be told soon (I hope). The beggining of the story was pretty confusing tho... And I get you, they sure do not look like middle schoolers at all.

It does help to re-read from the beginning again. It's not as confusing now that there is more story background. And then there was that Xmas or New Year extra where Xian had them all older and in the "present" time which was a nice teaser.
