why do people like to ship?
I kind of understand the act of shipping when you're watching an anime, a tv show, reading a manga or a book and you want the FICTIONAL characters of a particular story to be on a romantic relationship cause you find them cute together and blah, blah blah BUT i don't understand doing it with people in rl like... it's kind of creepy, all those "fanfics" about celebrities, idols etc. Like what happen to Harry and Louis from 1D the ship between them was very heavy and it kinda make their relationship fall apart and weird between them.
I personally myself don't like to ship even so I'm yaoitrash and fujoshis tend to ship, like in GOD LEVEL. i lowkey find it kind of annoying. Everything can be ship and can have a yaoi twist. Sometimes i think we as fujoshis are a little fuck up the in head. Young fujoshi (even older fujoshis)tend to romanticize rape and toxic relationship but i can really blame them cause that's what yaoi has to offer but that's a topic for another day ;)
that´s just my opinion don't kill me (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

A little shipping in real life doesn't hurt. Especially if the people being shipped are close and don't mind the close interaction. My girl friend and I joke around a lot and are sometimes teased by our other friends telling us to date. But we don't mind because we know we don't like each other that way. Fanfics are just another way of expressing ones fantasy about two people. What I personally can't stand is when people make the ships problematic.

I think like how many fujoshi like to defend that fiction is fiction and real life is real life, I argue the same thing here. Having a fantasy about two people in real life and writing about them and sharing them to those with the same opinion isn't necessarily damaging because it's a fictional story. It's a made up story you wished happened but it isn't true. However, it's the fact that when you attend a fan meeting or concert and you've brought a huge sign with the ship name shouting it like crazy, that's when it becomes problematic. Don't mix a fantasy ship with the real people who obviously are not in love. Ship them, but dont attend a fan meeting and push your ship relationship on them.

For fictional characters, I say the same thing too. I used to be a huge Erwin x Levi shipper but guess what, I hated how fans kept pulling scenes from the manga and saying eruri was cannon. I didnt like how fans were involving their ship with the actual plot. The manga obviously isn't romance nor BL related. Claiming a scene of Levi looking at Erwin is proof they are in a gay relationship was just so disrespectful for the plot.

Ship eruri, whatever, but don't be mixing that ship into the plot. It doesn't exist.

That's basically my opinion on shipping, fictional and in real life. No one has to agree or disagree but I think as long as you don't push the actual people into a relationship, then fanfics are just crazy stories.

for me shipping in reality, like celebrities idol or real person is where i draw the line, because i prefer a normal relationship.

but its different when comes to manga or anime or something not real, its time for my imagination to explodeee!! lol (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

I couldn't agree more. You got great points, i guess some people don't really feel weird about shipping people in RL or getting ship w another person like i do. That's awesome. Like you say, some people really take the ship seriously to the point it's not very healthy and spoils the enjoyment of the things we love and it's kind of sad (i mean mixing the ship w the real plot). Thank you for sharing your thoughts/ opinion on this(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

yeah and i understand that. I'm not really against creativity and imagination but the only thing i don't like it's when someone push their fictional ship and try to make it cannon, it is annoying at least for me.

Yes, I completely agree. Shipping real people is so insensitive, Those crazy shippers make the whole yaoi community look bad.
