There's no one to remind you you need to eat, that's the downside

Make sure your ready financially to make the move. Make sure the area is safe. Make sure it is near transportation (in case you don't own a car or drive already). It can be lonely at first if your used to having your family around you making noise. Visit them if you can when you feel like that.

Errr maybe see where you're going to live and how much money you've got first
Cats are pretty independent animals but they still need space, food, doctor, and so on (yes I've forgotten the spelling for animal's doctor in English and I'm too lazy to search)

While studying I often came back from school at 10pm (left home at 8am), and I barely had enough time to go shopping for groceries once every 3 weeks. Sure, you might not be at that level of the human disaster scale but I suggest taking time before making such an important decision (that's a Life we're talking about here, you don't want a sad cat)

I suggest starting with a plant. The succulent king. Those things never die lol
