So many questions about the webtoon as a whole

akera June 29, 2019 5:42 pm

Just to clarify before writing this comment: I do not want spoilers from anyone who reads the novel or someone who read a summary if future events somewhere. I'm just posting my thoughts as someone who only reads the webtoon and if someone has no idea what's going to happen and is speculating just like me then you're welcome to reply, just no one who can spoil this.

So, I wonder what the system actually is? Is this one of those matrix like situations where they find out they're all playing into some more intelligent being's hands or maybe they're in some virtual universe like the "get backers" manga.
My questions:

- What is the system? (the most concerning question)

- Does the main character benefit from the system because he followed all the commandments including the sacrifice ? (he was sacrificed at the alter) or is it really one of those "hidden quest" things as the system told him as in when you unlock a special reward without intending to which makes the quest = sacrifice but it wasn't fulfilled yet the player lived because he accidentally unlocked something else.

- He was told he was "a" player not "the" player so it could be that there are some other players scattered through the world (personally, I hope that's not it because I want him to be unique)

- So he is the monarch (even his name as he sees it is the shadow monarch). From Tusk's reaction (the boss at the top A level dungeon) it seemed that the monarch is the highest commanding person or something because he felt very confused as if this monarch ordered all the monsters to kill the humans yet here he came to kill the monsters which made no sense

- How did his father know that something evil is coming ? Even if he was stuck in the dungeon for 10 years and even if he defeated every monster there, how did he acquire that knowledge if 1) he can't converse with the monsters and 2) even if he could do it like his son can, the monsters can't tell him a plan they themselves don't know or even if they know something, remember the elf boss in the red gate ? He kept glitching when the MC asked him about what they want ans where they come from.

- Speaking of the ice elves boss, the way he glitched made me think of a non player character in a video game that is assigned a certain role and isn't allowed to do something else. I know this isn't a question but it's just a remark

-Back to the father, when he says an evil has been released, does he mean his son or maybe something else has been released and at the same time the double lair was "released" to judge the hunters and see who deserves to gain the system's privilege and get the power to counter the evil (someone smart and courageous who goes through the trial which is the hidden S level lair and survive until the end)

- Does the system want the world to change (since it is favoring the MC and wants him to level up) or is it just playing around for amusement like a human would control a game character... I honestly don't know because when you think of how the system forces him to undergo daily quests and punishes him if he doesn't it makes you feel like he is a helpless puppet and the system is evil but maybe the system wants to push the MC to develop his skills for his own (the MC) good which makes the system good (?)

- This question I had after rereading chapter 34 (where he fought the B rank guy who killed the prisoners), he said in a previous chapter that when he killed it felt like a light was dimmed inside of him and an emotion died and even in chapter, he said"I feel like something within me is lost everytime I get stronger" so this might be just a suspicion and there's nothing to back up this theory but what if he IS the system or at least he is becoming the system each time he obeys the quests and gets stronger and kills and feels human emotions dying within him, what if instead of the system being this foreign hostile all knowing controlling entity, the system is his ability so it was never something separate that observes him from afar.

- The previous question I asked is backed up my the events during the red gate thing: the elf boss told him "why is he a non human walking amongst the humans" or something like that which leads me to believe that either he is truly becoming the system (the more complex explanation) or that maybe because he is a hidden class, that makes him non human (?)

I this can't tell if the system is good or bad or where it came from but it seems to only think in terms of what's best for it. To me, it seems like a program to a video game in a sense that even though you the player has some type of free will you'll eventually have to follow the rules go level up and beat the game. I do think that there are other players but they either don't know they're playing the same game the system created or because they haven't met the criteria so they have more limitations than the MC.

What I worry most is that the system is not trying to make the MC into some type of hero but instead the final boss, because of the fact that very few RPGs have such dark classes for the heroes and his high apathy for other people's lives or anything weaker than him.

His dad is probably among the few players that are aware of the system and I'm thinking that while he was in the dungeon he stumbled onto a quest similar to his son that gave him more knowledge and power about the system or it could be the system needed someone to relay its message so it allowed his dad to talk with the monsters directly or find an item that spoke of a great evil. If that line of thinking is correct then I think it would mean the only reason no one else knows about the evil is that the system decided it wasn't time for them to know.

    Hello fellow none novel reader,

I've greatly enjoyed your line of thoughts and share most of the questions you have.

Maybe the great evil that has been released
is that horrible boss that butchered them all in the double layer the one who could shoot beams from his eyes as he wills, or is the right hand of the system or is the system itself emodied.

The system (alter reality sekai) choose the MC to be a player because its already a matter of fact that he would have a great amount of resentment and hate towards human beings after being abandoned and sacraficed on that alter.

So now he is a player (He's a part of the system or the other sekai which trys to attack human's realm) blessed by the alter realities, and also considered a human in the same time.
Him being healed and returned to life after death was a merical possible only to happen in the dungon.
Thats how are things are maybe..

Also maybe what you said about the MC being the great evil is right but I dont want it to be ╥﹏╥
Mabey the 'release" his dad is talking about is that a part of the system (alter world) is walking around now among humans.. Known as Jin-Woo

Σ(っ°Д °;)っ Ok I have to stop thinking this way it's a horrific senario.

haha I know and I love surprises and I know (and hope) that most of my speculations are incorrect and I'm totally fine with it...more like I want to be surprised so I want them to be wrong.
he thing is, I can't shut my mind off. Some people can easily jump back to their daily lives after reading something and just wait for the next chapter but not me. My mind keeps jumping all over the place and I felt like putting my thoughts into a written comment would be best.
