But isn't that kind of the point? Think about it. In life, there are so many sad endings to so many of our stories. Not everyone gets a happy ending and there are many times where people die while leaving the rest of us to pick up the pieces. Some things are too hard to remember and we repress them. I think the last 3 chapters really push the fact that life is hard and the moment you feel like you understand it you die. That's a cold hard fact and its something that's in the back of all of our minds. And it's ok to be scared and sad but we all have to keep moving. I think this ending was great! It was what some people really needed to hear.
Christopher by far had the most depressing ending. Having unrequited love, didn’t even have the chance to confess, being brainwashed by some dude, having his goddamn memories of Ryan completely erased and then the cherry on top with Ryan dying without the two of them reciprocate their feelings. In the end everything the two shared was just a random fairytale that was forgotten. In the end Christopher is just suffering in his own bliss
