Sending love and appreciation to Odagiri sensei

As some of you may or may not know, this series previously had a 4-year gap (hiatus since late 2012 and returned in 2016) due to the decline of sensei's health physically and as a result also mentally. Due to overworking, sensei had tendonitis, sleep deprivation, eye strain, and had also become very frustrated with her declining art quality.

The reason why I am bringing this up is that the next chapter (chapter 63) is going to be the last chapter and I already know that most if not all people are going to feel that the manga is very incomplete because I also felt that way. But this is why I wanted to note that this is due to sensei's tendonitis worsening to the point where she could no longer draw and thus had to end the series quickly (the last volume was released in 2017 and sensei had quit as a mangaka after that).

It is regretful as this is one of my favourite series (the first series I ever brought in a physical copy) so I really hoped to see it to the end and read the proper ending that sensei had planned but sadly that was unable to happen. However, I really hope that people do not turn away from this series because of such an ending or seeing people put down this manga due to its ending as sensei worked really hard on this series. Wishing sensei the best and thank you for creating this treasure!

Thanks so much for sharing this! I remembered waiting so long then almost forgetting this manga until year's later it updated again. Sad that it will be a rushed ending but I can't imagine all that pain the mangaka must have gone through - how sad she won't be able to see this through the end she wanted. It'll probably be one of my all time favorites.

I am really crying ;-; hope she gets well though won't wish for her to return to being mangaka but gotta wish for her to get well and live her life! It hurt's to see them suffer ;-; Gotta love her for this beautiful work like this was one of my first anime and manga that I have seen and loved so much <333

I know because of Japanese Traditions that mangakas are the director, although they have editors, as well as the artist of their craft. Also, mangas took years to finish.

I hope this kind of practise be changed. It is not good for Mangakas since they are put in a lot of stress. Longer series does not mean a better one. (This is one of the reason I am more into manhwa nowadays because I know I don't have to wait 5-10 years before the story will end or sometimes never because the mangakas are either dead or sick)

I just wanna ask if she's okay now? Any news from her account on twitter or any account? I feel a little bit sad how it ends but yeah hopefully she regains her healthy lifestyle.

I don't know much Japanese but from the looks of her twitter, she still experiences stress and quite a lot of physical pain. But ultimately, she is working towards recovery and just moved to Kyoto early this year in hopes to change her lifestyle, build her self-esteem and etc. She also posts drawings every once in a while, such as this one last November:

Thanks for letting us know. I tried to figure out why the end was done like this , but that makes so much more sense. Really wish it had a better end but with the author's circumsyance it makes sense.

Honestly, I like the whole open ending thing. It leaves room for the reader's imagination to decide what happens next. I'm proud of the author for making it this far despite their health issues. And I hope their health greatly improves as they are able to rest more. And hopefully one day they can do what makes them happy again.
