Henry and Sam has history. You guys have to understand that Henry has abandonment issues to begin with. His mom, who he loved so much, left him. Henry also thinks that Sam abandons things easily (how he easily divorced, quit baseball, willing to close the cafe easily). If you guys see it how Henry sees it, you will understand why Seth should know he had 0 chance to begin with. Henry loves Sam a lot that he is willing to just stay in the friend zone forever because he (and his family) are the only ones he got. Henry thinks that if Sam gets into a relationship with him, he will easily get abandoned and his whole world will leave him. I don't think Seth can do anything about that since he came so late in the game. Even Will who also has an obsession with Henry came in earlier but he still couldn't get in between Sam and Henry.
In my opinion, I don't think Sam is Henry's summer. It was actually Seth and vice versa. Seth's summer is Henry (as what he said), but I know he is also Henry's. Sam is Henry's world so he is always the endgame.
I really like Seth too (but I love the two MCs more) and I really wish him the best. I think the author does have a happy ending in store for him. It really isn't meant to be with Henry. I don't think the author did anyone dirty here...actually, maybe the author did dirty on Henry's friend, the one that broke up with his cute BF in the end.
