I wouldnt really call that a cliffhanger...to me, he was about to kill glasses and then the tomatoes fell to the ground and he started to think about the good memories he had with glasses, how much glasses really cared for him. So he stopped and started to chop tomatoes to make dinner instead and continue on with life.
