Pretty messed up manga

I can conceive that Tago is awkward and maybe hasn't had the typical 'teenager' experience so he doesn't have the right social cues, but this is really messed up. I thought chapter 2 was shocking, between him aggressively groping Ogi and pushing porn on him... It's so jarring it reminded me of my own experiences with pushy, abusive people who tried to talk me into having sex, and that's exactly what it felt like here.

I hate that the mangaka showed Ogi as fucking apologies as if any of this was his fault. These tropes of 'he tried to sexually assault me but somehow I'm the one at fault for not yielding' need to go already. And same thing for the bullshit she/he pulled with Kanako. Girls as plot devices, how progressive.

It probably won’t go away anytime soon because that’s the Japanese mentality...the women there are taught to believe that they are also half responsible for their assaults and harassment and so as a Japanese woman is writing it, she’s gonna think that way. Women are still treated very poorly there, like the 60s in America. Sexual assault, harassment, and stalking are very very bad and frequent there but it’s severely under reported because the cops don’t take them seriously even when they do report it and often shame and blame them so that they recant and no official report gets made. There are lots of documentaries about it and articles, about the stalking epidemic and the staggering sexual assault rates. The Japanese mentality is still very much “watch what you wear or you’re complicit, if you talk back to these men (even just telling them to go away) you are encouraging the behavior by responding to it”. It’s super messed up but a lot of women think that it’s also their responsibility when really it’s not. So often they write sexual assault as either endearing or a mutual mistake when...it’s not.
