They weren’t being racist they just didn’t know any better. And luckily someone else informed them because that person knew the difference and it’s not like they meant to generalize Asians or be rude and or demeaning in anyway they really just didn’t know the difference between Japanese and Korean names no harm done

Well, we don't know the reason he's being that way, maybe it has to do with his past, tbh. He seemed to be raised in a very weird way by his grandpa :/ Everyone has their reasons so I'm sure they'll explain things to us later :3
Exactly. Not everyone can distinguish the difference between Chinese, Japanese, Korean or etc. I'm lucky enough to know since my boss is Taiwanese and speaks Chinese. And I can tell the difference between Japanese and Korean because of anime, kdramas, mangas and webtoons. Not knowing doesn't mean they're being racist or meant to offend anyone. They could've just corrected them instead of laughing at them for not knowing. They took the chance to educate someone and help them into making fun of them instead. I'm sure that at some point they didn't know the difference either and that's okay BUT the moment you make fun of someone for not being as educated as themselves is downright wrong.
