It is possible. A lot of stories are influenced by the author past after all. Did you know that the author of Fruit Basket for instance was inspared by the abuse she endured as a child?

Somehow I feel the plot originally came to mind in a person that wanted to erase their mistakes.. but as we know about deeds and words, in real world rectification is possible but erase isn't....
