And this is how people start normalizing horrible behaviors because it's "just a movie, a book, a story" it's "just fiction". No, this type of stuff happens every day and it is not ok. I've read some disturbing mangas and never once I said "it's just a story" I know it's disgusting and will never normalize those behaviors, this was pedophilia. The more we say "it's just" the more we are going to think it's normsl to act like that and it's not.
Why do we have to take a fictional work (either is a movie, book, manga, etc.) seriously? It's not real. And I think we humans can distinguish what's real and what's not. Why be stressed or outraged by something that happens in a fictional world? The key word here is FICTIONAL and, a fictional work doesn't have to be a mecca for morality. It can be, but it doesn't have to. You said it yourself, you can read a manga that is disgusting, but you would not normalize that kind of behavior because you know that in a real life situation what happened in the manga is unacceptable. When I said "It just a manga" I mean exactly that, because it happened in a FICTIONAL world I can accepted the situation and I'm not going to lose my composure because of it. Off course, when the disgusting situation happen in real life I reject and condemn it, because is real life. So, what I'm trying to say is this: Why we need to condone a piece of work that is fiction, like we will do in real life? Those two thing are complety different. Also, if any kind of work that touch sensitive topics like pedophilia, rape o violence triggers you, off course, you don't have to read it, and no one would judge you because of it. However, just becacuse it's triggers you or offends you, do not condone that piece of fictional work as something that should be banned or never done. Can you imagine if every fictional work try to be the example of morality and political correctness? We would only have a couple of rom-coms and religious movies. And even if that was the case, somehow, we would always find something to complain about.
While i can understand why some people don't like a couple when the age gap is so big, especially if it is with a teenage involve, here is the thing, is a manga. In real life, sure that age gap is inappropriate but in fiction I enjoy it. It's not real. So I don't see the point to make a huge deal out a fiction situation. I never take a manga seriously because I feel that in doing so I will stop enjoy the stories, or I will be really limited in what I can read. So, long story short, relax it is just fictional situation in a manga. Don't take it seriously like you would in a real life scenario. This is just my honest opinion. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
