It's a REASON, not an EXCUSE) but this isn't even a highschooler, this is a CHILD whose father just left. Reread the chapter with that in mind and you'll probably get what i mean.

I get your point, but even if she's just a child with a trauma, it's still not an excuse. An adult told her to stop, to be careful, that it was dangerous and she didn't listen to him. Any child is able to listen to an adult, it really has nothing to do with her trauma. Her, who's in denial doesn't excuse the fact that she purposely didn't listen to this adult and hurt him in the process bc of that. We are not talking about the fact that she ran away. I mean, everybody can understand her situation and even if it's stupid, she's just a poor child in denial who don't understand her sad situation and so we can all be understanding about it.
