I remember years ago when I was talking about how I preferred yaoi over shojos because the heroines where too childlike, too timid, too shy, too much of crybabies, too sensitive, too naive, etc.
None of them had a strong personality. They were all poor little things that needed to be safe. As a girl i couldn’t connect with them at all but more than anything, it was just soooo frustrating to read that I couldn’t even enjoy the romance. So that’s why I stopped reading shojo and i really had my preference for MxM relationships. AND GUESS WHAT, THIS MF DAN HAS ALL THOSE SHITTY PERSONALLY TRAITS THAT I HATE SO MUCH LMAO. The man is in his thirties and not only does he look like he’s a teenager, but he also acts like one. But not just a simple teenager, he acts like a shojo teenage girl……… the kind that I literally can’t stand. At this point, the resentment I have is more for Dan than JK. Because JK may be an asshole but since the very beginning he was clear with his intentions and the relationship he wanted with Dan (only sex and nothing else), so tbf, he has no obligation to be “nice” towards Dan. Dan is the one who “fell in love” with a guy who’s only been a fucking asshole since the very beginning (the guy has no self esteem lmao) and who has too much expectations (because he’s so delusional that he thinks that JK is a nice person and could potentially loves him too). So just because he has too much expectations towards a man who has been crystal clear about his intentions, he’s like all sad and disappointed every time the man doesn’t meet his expectations. But like ?? The man has told you multiple time that you were only here for sex and nothing else. The reason why he’s so miserable isn’t entirely because of JK tbh, it’s mostly because he’s dumb, delusional and has no self esteem. And of course the only thing he will do about his misery is crying in the corner like the crybaby he is. Even tho he’s 30. I’m not saying that a man in his thirties shouldn’t cry BUT THAT’S THE ONLY THING HE DOES. HE NEVER SCREAMS, NEVER YELLS, HE’S NEVER ANGRY GODDAMMIT. HE’S ONLY SHY AND TIMID AND BLUSHING AND CRYING OMG.
I can't understand him and I don't want to. His character is like a snowflake and it makes me so madge. Forget about jk's character development, dr dan growing a fucking backbone is what I wanna see

But it seems BL artists and readers love this character trope, I used to think,considering how most yaoi readers are female , then maybe it’s easier for them to connect and imagine themselves as the uke , but then uke in bls got more and more dumb , whiny and a total pushover, I’m like hell no, no girl wants to be so weak and stupid! I just know that so many of you wish for Dan to have a character development or think that the redemption won’t be satisfying or that JK is not redeemable because it’s been too long etc. But tbf it took pretty much as much time for Seungho to have his character development in POTN. And he had been sooooo damn shitty towards Nakyum, even worse than JK. And Nakyum had the exact same personality as Dan and he never had a character development. Not even once. And yet yall called POTN a “masterpiece” eventually. Yall were pretty much satisfied. So it’s just a matter of time before everyone here change their mind and call this whole bullshit a “masterpiece” also.

See the chapter where JK is drunk and Dan is blushing and happy ? That’s what the author’s gonna do at the very end of the story (except JK won’t be drunk) and everyone will forget about the abuse and be satisfied. Out of 100 chapters, there will be like 90 chapters of abuse and 10 chapters of fluff (or even less). Everyone will be happy cause they will finally have their “happy ending” even tho 90% of the story is JK being the biggest asshole ever. At the end, Jk won’t have to do much for Dan to forgive him cause he’s is already in love with him, so there’s actually no need for him to say sorry since Dan is already excusing his toxic behaviors at the moment. All JK needs to do is being nicer, blush a little bit and say « I love you » and that’s it. Dan and all the readers will be satisfied, that’s the kind of character development he’ll have. He’ll just completely change his personality (from bad to nice) but he won’t really reflect on what he did. Or if he does, it’s gonna be brushed up (like in « roses and champagne »). Dan won’t ever have a character development, he’ll keep on being a small sensitive kid (who’s 30) but the only difference is that he’ll be happy and everyone will be happy for him or whatever.
That’s how the author will make « everyone » happy. But I won’t be lmao. To make ME satisfied, I’d need Dan to have a character development, to grow some balls, to snap back or to even go completely berserk or something. Also I need JK to be miserable for as many chapters he had been a fucking asshole towards Dan. And I don’t want him to be miserable because of a tragic backstory, I want Dan to make JK miserable. I want 50 chapters of Dan having a real fucking personality and Jk being miserable. I’d need their whole dynamics to be reversed. And maybe then I’d be satisfied. And the only reason for me to call this story a masterpiece would be if Dan actually top JK, at least once. That would be the biggest plotwist ever that had never be done in the whole history of yaoi lmao. This whole story is such a cliche that it feels like I’m reading a parody. So I need something big to break all the rules for me to eventually call this bullshit a « masterpiece ».
