Uh

I don't really see anything wrong with the story (There is many wrong things in the plot, but it's fictional so.) The characters, although not really that loveable, have their own personalities that makes them easier to remember. The story is fucked up and much more closer to happen in reality, but a bit more leaning on the fantasy fucked up side. If you can't seem to like it, imagine the characters as villains. They really don't give a shit about others, just theirselves. Hope that helps making you read the story!
