I say manipulating because he's hiding who he really is and is trying to get her to fall in love with him first so she won't leave him once she finds out who he really is/what kind of person he is.

I think their relationship is so well done, because they both started by hiding stuff about themselves that they thought the other would judge-
But now she lets herself seem a bit mean in front of him, and although it's unintentional for now, it's getting slowly exposed that he'd ask his dog to attack a stranger for example

Yeah I believe that. You know almost no one goes into a relationship completely exposing every part of themselves, but thats why I feel weird about it at the moment. There's just that nervous, skeptical, pessimistic part of me thats being mean about it.

But then again he is lying about WHO he is. Lol so thats probably where that stems from

Well i can understand both points of view but you see... on the other hand maise is hiding that she's not actually the real maise cuz the story isn't supposed to be like this and she started making changes in the story even from the beginning so....

Yeah I get it XD I guess I give her leeway because she isn't hurting people behind closed doors, just protecting herself
