Well-written, creative framing device, stunning artwork, really interesting in the sense that I genuinely cannot see how the fuck they're gonna pull a believable happy ending out of this and the trauma responses that Kei has - to his abusers and to Yukata as his first somewhat-stable relationship - are probably the most realistic of anything I've seen in BL/Yaoi manga ever both with the fact that unfortunately sometimes abused people become abusers themselves and that people who get conditional love are often conditioned to believe that all love is in turn conditional until shown otherwise while also showing that doesn't mean have to stay that way through the visual metaphors of the dolls and the game. Just...fantastic. I can't afford to spend a much money on manga and I use sites like this to sorta gage where I'm going to invest my cash but if there was an English translation of Gift I would buy it TODAY.
