Guys the old grandpa is sangmin remember when his Sita died he said he was willing to sacrifice anything in order to help prevent how her life ended in that lifetime (she was a prostitute so my theory is that her death was also related to that).

So the goddess granted his wish to help her but in return he would be giving up his youth and “his Sita”..

so he was sent back in time when Sita was just a kid.. so he helped her pass the kumari test by telling her not to be afraid and such and after she was abandoned by the temple she was abt to enter prostitution again and that’s when sangmin (old) came and told her not to do it cuz she will regret it.. and he helped her live a much more normal life until she was at the age where she met sangmin (young) once again and fell in love with him and decided to move to Korea with him to continue their life together.

After the old sangmin died he went back to that place where he had asked the goddess to grant his wish and since he is dead he’s soul got to leave with his Sita that had died..
