I think he/she is physically genderless but because she was a girl in the "other world" she feels like a girl. So she is mentally a girl but physically neither.

MC identifies as a girl as they lived as a girl until they were brought over. As a spirit (now), they don't have a sex is all, but MC isn't bothered by that.

I think any mention of it is mainly because MC is more accustomed to having a female body than a "non-female" body.
