People are upset saying the childhood backstory is meaningless and we should get to the main point teased in the beginning... without realising that we are already doing that. It's the summary's fault for making it seem that way but there's been a misunderstanding, the ML is going to be one of those three, not a fourth new person that gets introduced after the prologue scene. MC is not going to distance from the main cast or live a new life as a side character and get together with another NPC, the childhood we're reading now is the story.
I'll share some spoiler/speculation from the novel spoiler thread regarding the prologue segment:
[CP likes the MC but was surprised by her asking suddenly. He is a tsundere. Hence "what makes you think that"
Knight likes MC but he's worried about their age gap. MC is 16 and K is 21. MC is a minor and K is an adult. So he tries to suppress his feelings for MC. He plans on not making a move or accepting the FL's love until MC is an adult. Hence "you shouldn't say to so casually"
Villain was teasing the FL but he was so happy. He's questioning back the MC to see if she has feelings for him. However because he likes to tease the FL, he words it harsh. Hence "do you want me to like you"
It seems the male lead candidates made some sort of agreement? That none of them can confess to MC. They have to receive a confession from MC. However MC is waiting for THEM to confess.]
Childhood backstory is not entirely meaningless since that's exactly the time when they all met each other, we just wanted to see the continuation of the first chapter quickly since it was interesting. Anyways, from the reactions it was very obvious they like the FL and that's the reason why we wanted to see the continuation, coz we wanted to know what they'll do after she said she's looking for a husband. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
CP is going to be the ml right? I love him but I don't want him as the ML idk why but I just don't want him as the ML
Ppl act like this type of opening is new. Ive read a few that start when they're adults or when a major moment is about to happen & they find something out (like about to get married & the groom wants someone else) then the next chapter is the beginning. There are others where the story continues but with a lot of flashbacks to set the foundation of the characters & relationships. Imo starting the story from the beginning works best as long as it doesn't take years for it to meet the beginning (again from another one i read and dropped)
I think vol 2 chap 8 is a good place to end it. I'm not going to read the rest (mostly because it got weird)
Honestly I shipped her more with her childhood friend! But then he got tossed aside without even getting a chance to properly establish himself. These nobunaga fics are always a little weird but this one was especially so. Like, she's just fine marrying a man she knew had 10 wives and 20 kids?? I surely would've had some reservations. The world view of sengoku era is simply too different! Both for contemporary Japan and the kingdom they're now living in. It was fine at the start because it wasn't the focus, but then it got real weird real fast after he proposed. It's weird that his actions didn't bother mc more. I enjoyed her character in the beginning but her sudden affection for him at chapter 8 felt detrimental to her character... I would've preferred a different arc for her. They kinda just made everything worse by trying to force the main couple to become a thing so quickly and without changing anything in their dynamic that was established as a problem before. Again I say her friend was a better and more natural candidate for her considering how much he meant to her as well. But even with nobunaga, I would've liked to see a better transition in their relationship, where both change for the better for each other - MC becoming more confident of herself and accepting the queen position willingly and nobu adapting to his current world's mindset, embracing his new life and leaving his past behind, and these changes being triggered by their growing love for each other that lets them see themselves through the eyes of someone that loves them - then it would be much more impactful to see them become an official couple, and it would be a natural progression to their relationship. Alas I weep for the love story we could've had. My journey with this ends here.
