I'm part of the fandom, I think the shipping part of it can be very toxic and there are a lot of toxic people in it in general but I think people that haven't even experienced the fandom make it out to be this insanely toxic and disgusting fandom when the majority of it is actually quite nice. Wow Biphobic much? I'm Biromantic and I can point out a few things. First of all Bisexual/romantic people don't just suddenly wake up one day and go "You know what? I want to be Bisexual/romantic because I just feel like it" no one wants to be oppressed which is what Bisexual/romantic people are, we're even oppressed by our own community.
