Was there ever much of a plot? The main plot was them getting together and then they got together. Then they have a meet-the-parents arc, and they met the parents. I don’t think there’s a lot much left to write about other than just hijinks and situations they get themselves in and also about the other couples (￣∇￣")
The plot was how do they overcome their challenge of being a cop/yakuza couple. So I was waiting for them to have challenges about it not just with the parents. And aki’s father wanted ueda to quit being a cop and start working for the yakuza in the early chapters when aki was kidnapped. But it feels like the author forgot about it which is a shame :c and now it’s just them being lovey dovey (not complaining though)and the other couple with nonplot…
The story was sooo cute but wth is with the granpa’s obsession with his first crush, kinda weird, even to the point of naming the daughter Lila, what about the actual granma???
Yessss this is like my only complaint with this, the actual grandma getting completely overshadowed by FL's grandma, despite us not getting to really know either of their personalities or what happened to them, I feel like since they're so central to the plot it shoulda been more fleshed out

Can someone recommend a story with the same style: lots of politics, strong and witty/intelligent female lead wIth also a solid plot, true to its time, where the titles, social relationships, and cultural references are consistent, without mixing elements from other historical or geographical contexts? (No sunbai, onichan or bowing head as in asian cultures).

Please give this one a chance, although you may hear about the concubines you don't need to worry cause all that is for politics as the ML is the new emperor, the FL is actually friends with the concubines.
ML is kinda goofy, FL is the one on the nonchalant type
While reading this you must bear in mind the Time and place it took place, as some actions may frown upon on today's society (mainly the concubines lol) but best believe the ML tried to treat the women in this story as equal to men
