hey so overall the story is nice like it touches some heavy subjects in a very beautiful way but i cant overlook the fact that the age gap of 16 years is insane. i might drop it even though the story is nice because we shouldn’t normalize being in a relationship with someone almost half your age. but yeah in the end is my opinion.
I understand that this is ur opinion but I think the manhwa isnt normalizing adults for their big age gap when dating. The manhwa itself criticizes that subject and it handles it in a different perspective for other people to understand. It can only look terrible when the other party has ulterior motives. Im not against you, thats your opinion but I just want you to understand that the manhwa isnt normalizing it, it explains it :)

yes i know as i sad i really appreciate it how it handles deep topics like this one and i can appreciate the work for what it is. thanks tho for not making fun of my opinion like the ones before some people cant handle others povs
I think this is a pretty extreme perspective to take. I could understand if Yeoreum was 18-21 or if Hyeonseon was his boss or mentor. But that's not the case, in the story Yeoreum is a 24 year old working adult who meets Hyeonseon as his guitar instructor.
The issue with age gap relationships when it comes to people under 23 is that they're often immature, lack experience and don't know how to navigate relationship dynamics with an older adult without relying on that adult for guidance. This is not an issue with Yeoreum because he is an established adult with plenty of experience on his own. We see in the story exactly how capable he is of managing his own autonomy and relationships.
Ultimately some grown adults will enter in relationships with other grown adults who are significantly older/younger than them. As long as both are experienced, capable consenting adults who met as adults there should not be a problem.
Tl;dr let's not police how grown adults date please and thanks (signed, a man in his late 20s who prefers to date older people)
Hey I get that, I hated age gaps before this too. But A first. of summers is written and drawn so lovely, and the age gap isn't in a creepy way. Like how can you read this and think Hyeonseon is an oder creep? And yes, I feel like most age gap couples are weird asf, nut I deadass couldn't find anything weird with this. COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO FINDS AGE GAPS CREEPY. Kinda opened my eyes to SOME age gap exceptions.

Honestly I think the issue is that a lot of younger adults tend to over correct because like you should rightfully be skeeved out by anyone older than 24 dating anyone 21 and under AND you should be questioning stuff if an older adult is exclusively dating people in their 20s (even if those people are mid to late 20s) because there's the pattern BUT those are really the only times when it's an actual issue.
The first ones an issue because young adults aren't full adults yet. They're inexperienced and not quite finished cooking and so it definitely feels like older adults who pursue them are taking advantage of that immaturity. The second ones issue because it establishes a pattern. Like why do you exclusively date people outside of your age group? That's weird.
But if two grown, established adults end up meeting, connecting with each other and start dating (like Yeoreum and Hyeonseon) then it's not a big deal. Grown adults date other grown adults that are older then allll the time without issue because both parties are still grown adults at the end of the day.
Like by the time you're in your mid to late 20s you're already an established adult with some experience under your belt. Your most likely not dating an older person just because you don't know better.
well if i may add something, I myself don’t like age gap relationships in yaoi much either but this one is one of very few manhwas that actually touch on the power imbalances and the differences between the 2 (like how one is in college struggling with their future and the other being a divorcee office worker) it’s very nice to see a manhwa where the age gap relationship isn’t romanticized but actually portrayed in a realistic way. Not to mention there’s no disgusting trope like how the older one knew the younger one from childhood
gang the last reply before you two was a week old. those of us who had something to say said it. you're free to feel whatever way you want. let's give it a rest, okay?
